Second Semester change request information
Semester 2 (Quarter 3 and Quarter 4) ELECTIVE CHANGE REQUESTS: The time frame is January 13th - January 16, 2020. Forms will be available in Counseling and Student Services and during lunch block. NO changes will be made after January 16, 2020.

Registering for 2019-2020 Electives
It's almost time to pick 8th grade electives!!!! Registration will open on 3/18/19. Students will receive a green registration worksheet on Friday, March 15th in Homeroom. Please review this with your child before they start registering. Students will register using their PowerSchool account. The green worksheet will not be collected, it is only a guide to help you.
7th Graders should see Ms. Rowell in the morning or during lunch block to sign up for a help session if you are having trouble registering or have any questions. You are encouraged to register at home with your parent or guardian. The help sessions are designed for students who have limited internet access, need assistance, or have questions making selections.

TIPS FOR REGISTERING:
- Do not select classes you have already taken.
- Do not select a level II class if you have not taken the level I class.
- Do not select the same course multiple times.
- Do not select a course as an alternate if you have already selected it as a primary.
- All electives are not offered every period. Course availability will be based on the number of students who select it as a choice and staff available to teach the course.
- If you have questions about a recommended core class or level of an elective, talk to your teacher. If you and your parent want a lower or higher math placement, your parent/guardian will need to complete a math waiver.
- Try new things! There are many options. This is your time to discover your interests and talents.

Human trafficking Education
As part of the 7th grade Health rotation I will be doing a one time lesson on Human Trafficking Safety. We will discuss what Human Trafficking is and how to recognize and report unhealthy relationships. To view lesson content and resources used in this instruction, please visit:

Signs of suicide prevention training program
7th graders across Wake County will be receiving a lesson on signs of suicide and more information on how to identify depression in themselves and their peers. The idea is to help them feel more comfortable asking for help for themselves or a friend who may be struggling.
I will be delivering the one time lesson during their social studies class period. The schedule is posted below.

Innovators: November 1st
Voyagers: November 13th
The letter that got sent home to all students on 10/22/18 is posted below. You only need to sign and return it if you DON'T want your child to participate in the lesson. Please call or e-mail me if you have any questions or concerns. I am happy to talk through it with you. It is extremely helpful for you as parent or guardian to be available to speak with your child after the lesson as they may have questions about the lesson they want to process with you.
